Product overview
Designed for data that keeps changing.
Moon Frontier is an engineering-stage vector search project for teams exploring retrieval over evolving data. Its native engine supports ongoing inserts, updates, and removals, and is designed to support routine changes without requiring a full index rebuild each time.
Evaluate on representative workloads
The project includes tools for inspecting query behavior and comparing approximate retrieval with an exhaustive search baseline. They are intended to help engineers measure trade-offs on representative data—not rely on generic performance promises.
Actual write cost, query behavior, and maintenance needs depend on the collection and workload. Performance, recall, write behavior, durability, and operational fit should all be assessed against the intended use.
Metadata and categories
For collections with reliable, meaningful categories, metadata may provide a useful signal for retrieval. Early experiments suggest it may help on some workloads, but results are corpus-dependent.
Moon Frontier does not automatically discover trusted business categories. Category information should not be treated as a hard boundary that guarantees relevant results will remain together.
Who should evaluate it
- Engineering teams and applied researchers working with vector collections that receive ongoing changes.
- Teams that need to study retrieval quality and search effort together.
- Workloads where trustworthy metadata may be relevant to retrieval.
- Teams able to run a controlled evaluation on representative data.
Moon Frontier is an engineering project, not a drop-in recommendation for every vector-search workload.
Availability and maturity
Moon Frontier is under active development, with a native API and demonstration interface. It is not offered as a hosted service or a production-ready, supported database.
Access to the proprietary software requires a separate written agreement with NarglesCS.
